Mr Daniel Brown is currently Principal of Emmanuel and Josiah Colleges. He commenced this role in January 2022. Previously, he was Deputy Principal and Head of Plenty Campus at Ivanhoe Grammar School in Melbourne, Victoria. Mr Brown is enjoying his role as Principal of Emmanuel and Josiah Colleges.
Mr Brown has successfully led several projects in the areas of curriculum design, staff leadership, character education, and the establishment of a Year 9 University Campus situated at La Trobe University. Prior to moving to Victoria, he held roles as Dean of Students, Associate Dean (Learning & Teaching), Dean of Boarding and Director of Leadership at The Southport School on the Gold Coast. He was formerly a Head of Year at Brisbane Grammar School and held various roles at Brisbane Boys’ College, where he was a boarder during his high school years.
Mr Brown has completed a Bachelor of Arts (Honours), a Graduate Diploma in Education, a Master of Education, and is currently completing a Master of Business Administration. He has been a finalist in many teaching and leadership awards in the past five years and was nominated by his school community for the NEiTA leadership award in 2020.
As a student and teacher in his native Ireland, Mr Brown nurtured his passion for collaborative leadership and future-focused Christian education. He is committed to engaging students in intentional character education while also focusing on strong academic outcomes. Mr Brown is married to Kylie and together they are parents of three beautiful children, Harrison, Fletcher, and Indiana, who attend Emmanuel College
