Mathew Stein has worked in education for more than 24 years, holding a range of pastoral and academic leadership roles throughout his career. As Deputy Principal responsible for Curriculum, Professional Practice and Transformation at The Lakes College, Mathew works across the school’s P–12 community to create learning environments where students engage with curiosity, develop depth of character, and experience a strong sense of connection and belonging.


Passionate about enhancing opportunities and outcomes for young people, Mathew is equally committed to building the professional capacity of the staff he works alongside and fostering positive partnerships with parents and carers. His leadership focuses on supporting high-quality teaching and learning while driving meaningful transformation across curriculum and professional practice.


With a strong interest in the broader educational landscape, Mathew is continually exploring emerging ideas and research in education through academic literature, podcasts, and professional learning. Recognised for his thoughtful and community-focused approach to leadership, he is dedicated to creating school cultures where both students and educators are empowered to grow, contribute, and thrive.
