Alisha is a driven educator with a background in classroom instruction and leadership roles spanning both the state and independent sectors. She possesses a fervent enthusiasm for curriculum development and demonstrates specific interests in nurturing gifted students and meaningfully integrating Indigenous perspectives into educational settings. Her extensive background encompasses classroom teaching and roles such as Support Teacher for Literacy and Numeracy, Head of Literacy, Intervention Specialist, Head of Curriculum (Differentiation), and her present capacity as the Assistant Head of Junior School (Teaching and Learning) at Canterbury College.As a Mununjali woman, Alisha is passionate about promoting Indigenous education across all schools and sectors, irrespective of the number of Indigenous students enrolled. She has worked in various educational institutions in the Scenic Rim, Logan, and Mount Isa. This diverse experience has enabled her to work in schools with Indigenous populations ranging from 2% to 68%, further enriching her perspective of Indigenous education is for all. Alisha’s work in this space has included mentoring other schools, showcasing best practice, driving innovative projects, such as the production of bilingual children’s books, and has seen her undertake roles of Indigenous Champion and the Indigenous Education representative on the QCAA K-10 Curriculum and Assessment Committee.
