Our inaugural Future Of Education Summit took place on the 12th of October, 2023 at Canterbury College, Waterford. Over the course of this action packed day, brought together 180 educators from across sectors to explore how we can create future-focused learning experiences for our young people. Here is a copy of our 2023 program to give you a taste of what to expect in 2024!

Registration Open
For attendees wanting to beat the traffic, we hosted an optional 'Coffee And Conversations' before the official program. This provided attendees the opportunity to grab a coffee and a bite to eat as they networked and heard from an insightful panel discussion to prepare for the day ahead!

Our Young Professionals Panel Discussion saw three young professionals within the first 10 years of their careers joining us to share their insights and experiences as young people navigating our ever-changing future of work.
Our panelists shared their tips and strategies for how we can best support young people in our classroom preparing for life beyond the school gates.

We are on the cusp of some exciting changes in society and in education. To better understand this progress and possible future directions, it is important to reflect on where we have come from. In this short session, we explored the journey of Indigenous perspectives within education throughout the years and where to in the future- the importance, the possibilities, and how we can be a catalyst for change throughout this wonderful country of ours!

The Accidental CEO - There Is Always Room To Be Fearless Especially In Times Of Great Change

In a world where the only constant is change, the role of a CEO has never been more challenging or rewarding. Dominique Lamb, Small Business Commissioner joined us to share her journey of transformation and inspiration as we explored "The Accidental CEO" and the future of small businesses in Queensland.
During this session Dominique explored how there is always room for individuals to rise to the occasion, seize opportunities and chart a course to success. Dominique also covered the future of small business and the Queensland Economy through an SME lens in Queensland by sharing data and trends that small business owners face every day.

As we continue to transition into a post-COVID world, educators, industry innovators and community leaders are being challenged to consider how we balance the time we spend in our digital and physical worlds.
This panel discussion saw education and industry leaders coming together to discuss how to create meaningful uses of technology inside and outside of the classroom, and the role technology will continue to play in our digital world now and into the future.

This discussion saw attendees hearing from future-focused school leaders that have already made strides in building a school of the future as they share their insights and experiences. From there, we engaged in a discussion around how we can better prepare our young people for their chosen futures as we create a school of the future.

As we returned for our final block of the day, we heard from Queensland Chief Entrepreneur, Julia Spicer, virtually as she shared her story as a regional entrepreneur and her advice for inspiring entrepreneurship and innovation in the regions.
Not knowing a world without touch screen devices, social media and wifi connectivity, Gen Z and Gen Alpha work with technology in very different ways to the rest of us. Whilst this can be a point of contention at times, it also presents a world of opportunity for us to teach them how to effectively innovate, create and collaborate with their digital tools.
Our final keynote for the day saw fellow Gen Z, Scott Millar, exploring how we can design and deliver real, relevant, and relatable learning experiences for our students. In this presentation, Scott explored the role new and emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence play in the classroom and in the workforce before he then looked at how we as educators can harness technology tools to create impactful learning experiences for our students whilst also preparing them for our ever-changing future of work.
Our summit MCs, Meagan and Scott then rejoined us to provide a recap on an action-packed day of connection, collaboration, and learning. We then be closed the official program for the summit and invited attendees to join our Future Schools Showcase to finish the day.

Future Schools Showcase
To finish our inaugural Future Of Education Summit, we invited all attendees to join us at our Future Schools Showcase in the Canterbury Function Centre. The Showcase provided attendees with an opportunity to grab a drink and enjoy some canapes and live music as they debriefed on a massive day of inspiration and learning. Attendees also had the opportunity to explore the showcases set up by future-focused schools across the country.
